Score a $45 Gift Card with Costco’s New Membership Deal
When big-box warehouse store Costco raised its membership fees in September, many customers shared that the increase wasn’t enough to cause them to stop shopping there. But those fee hikes may have been enough to turn away new members, judging by the company’s new offer to help attract not only potential customers but former members too. Keep reading to find out more about Costco’s new membership deal that includes a hefty gift card offer, as well as how to enjoy the perks for yourself.
Though there are ways to shop from Costco without a membership (such as online or as a member’s guest), you can’t get the full perks without being a member. Unfortunately, the up-front cost of signing up may deter some people from doing so.
Luckily, the company is offering a deal for new members that could make a membership far more appealing. When you sign up for a Gold or Executive membership (both of which last for a year), you’ll receive $45 in the form of a shopping gift card, reports NJ.com. The only caveat? The deal ends on January 31, 2025.
The gift card can be used for any purchases online or in the store. This means you can put them towards grocery essentials, holiday goods or even food court snacks that are already at a reasonable price for members.
To take advantage, you don’t even need to head to your nearest Costco store to sign up—the entire process of snagging the deal takes place online. On StackSocial, you simply choose your preferred membership tier, add it to your cart, and complete your checkout. (Note: Make sure to use a valid email address!)
Then within two weeks of purchasing your membership, you'll receive your $45 digital Costco Shop Card via email, according to SFGate. As mentioned above, it can be used for in-person shopping despite being a digital card.
Unfortunately, current members are out of luck for this great deal. But you don’t have to only be a new member to take advantage of the offer. The company hopes to entice former customers back, as well! If your membership has been expired for more than 18 months, you too can sign up via the StackSocial link and get the gift card.
The $45 gift card offer means Costco’s Gold Star Membership, which usually costs $65 a year, will be available for a shockingly low $20. This lower-tier membership is described on the company’s website as being for “everyday value.” What it includes: The ability to shop online and in the warehouse, plus two membership cards for you and someone else in your household.
The Executive Membership, on the other hand, has a higher up-front cost. It normally costs $130 a year, but will now be $85 during this StackSocial deal. Its benefits include the perks of the Gold Star Members, plus two more unique to this tier.
The first is an annual 2% reward on eligible Costco and Costco Travel purchases, with a $1,250 cap. The other? Additional benefits and discounts on Costco Services, features such as free roadside assistance for vehicles covered by Costco’s auto insurance and lower prices on check printing, reports PennLive.com.
Both tiers also carry the benefits that come along with being a Costco Member, like access to the grocery delivery service and members-only discounted gas. With $45 off the cost of your membership, you’ll get to enjoy the perks with more money in your pocket!
